Introduction
The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized test that evaluates the test-taker鈥檚 proficiency in the skills necessary for success in law school, such as reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, and written communication.
The LSAT is required for all Canadian common law programs taught in English. (It is not required for our French Common Law Program.)

The University of Ottawa Common Law Section is offering a free LSAT Prep Course for prospective law school applicants who have experienced systemic barriers to education due to their membership in an equity-seeking group or due to their personal finances.
The course will be offered online from Wednesday, July 3rd to Wednesday, August 28th with no class on August 5th due to the holiday.
Classes will be held two evenings per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
What to Expect
You will attend two online classes per week, taught by a highly experienced LSAT Instructor. You will gain access to the materials on the LSAC LawHub, and you will complete practice exercises to help you develop the skills you learn in class. Your instructor will host office hours each week, where you can ask questions one-on-one and in small groups.
Due to the online and synchronous nature of the class, participants will need reliable access to the internet and the uninterrupted use of a computer equipped with a microphone and camera.
This class will move quickly. While some absences will be unavoidable, you will otherwise be expected to attend all classes from July 3rd to August 28th inclusive. Participants must keep their cameras on during class and remain present except during the break periods.
Eligibility
This prep course is designed for upper-year undergraduate students or recent graduates who are preparing to apply to law school in the 2024-2025 admissions cycle, and who have an LSAT test date set for August, September, October, or November.
We invite applications from applicants who are members of equity-seeking groups, such as applicants who are Black, Indigenous, or are part of otherwise marginalized groups. We also invite applications from members of low-income families, as determined by Table 1 of the Federal Income Scales ( | ) .
To qualify for the Prep Course, applicants must demonstrate an undergraduate cumulative average of at least B+ (78%).

We will accept applications until Friday June 21st or until the class is full. If we fill the class to capacity before the deadline, we will not accept additional applications.
If you are still waiting for the results of your LSAC fee waiver, you must provide proof of your waiver before the class begins.
